Raja Krishnamoorthi, Illinois

Raja Krishnamoorthi is a Democratic U.S. Representative serving Illinois’ 8th Congressional District since 2017 and a candidate for U.S. Senate in 2026. Born in New Delhi, India and raised in Peoria, Illinois, he graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Law School, then worked as a clerk to a federal judge, a prosecutor in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, and a special assistant attorney general before founding a technology company. In Congress he has served as Ranking Member of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party and focused on economic competitiveness with China, technology policy, consumer protection, and expanding opportunity for working families.
