NEW LEADERS TO WATCH LIST: CONGRESS
We've heard the call for new leaders in Congress — and we agree — this country needs more principled, pragmatic leaders who are committed to strengthening our democracy, advancing evidence-based policy and embracing America's diversity as one of our greatest assets.
Our members collected hundreds of candidate recommendations, analyzed dozens of House races, crunched the data and interviewed finalists to select these new entrants. They exemplify the principles of the Leadership Now Project that all Americans can get behind.
These 24 leaders bring real experience and degrees in business, policy, science, law, medicine and engineering. Some have built businesses, run large non-profits, served in the armed forces and all have served their communities in substantive ways. Their expertise is essential to prepare our nation for the economy of the future. More than 50% are women and 45% bring diversity of race, ethnicity or sexual orientation. Few of the 435 current representative for Congress hold comparable qualifications and life experience ... and only 19% are women.
