Statement by Business Leaders on the 2024 Election in Arizona

In a show of unity and commitment to democratic principles, a cross-partisan coalition of Arizona business and community leaders has released a statement calling on all Arizonans to uphold and protect the electoral process in the 2024 election, recognizing that a strong democracy is essential to a thriving economy and the future of our state.

We, the undersigned, are a cross-partisan group of business and community leaders - Republicans, Independents and Democrats -  in industries across Arizona.  As Americans and Arizonans, we care deeply about the functioning of our democracy.

As members of the business community, we firmly believe that maintaining Arizona’s strong economy requires a healthy, vibrant and durable democracy. More jobs, higher wages, and greater economic growth in Arizona require consistent democratic norms, strong institutions and the rule of law.

From now until the next president is sworn into office, we encourage all Arizonans – elected officials, the media, civic leaders, and the citizenry –   to

1. Exercise the right to vote and respect every eligible voter’s right to register and vote free from interference.

2. Support and speak out for the safety of election officials and poll workers from violence, threats, or intimidation.

3. Stand against disinformation of any sort.

4. Respect that there is a legal process for addressing claims of election irregularities or illegitimacy.

5. Accept the legitimacy of the election outcome after the results have been certified and courts have made final rulings.

6. Support and promote the peaceful transition of power, irrespective of who prevails.

Free and fair elections are the bedrock of our Republic and our state.  Confidence in our elections is a sign of a healthy democracy and respect for the rule of law are essential to a strong economy.  We commit to using our voices to instill trust in the process and ask all Arizona voters and to do the same.

Sincerely,

Leadership Now Arizona
