"Not every voice matters in Ohio. Issue 1 will change that."

In a compelling op-ed, Jeni Britton, founder of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams and Leadership Now member, and Richard Stoff, Senior Advisor to Leadership Now, urge Ohioans to vote Yes on Issue 1, a constitutional ballot amendment designed to end gerrymandering in the state.

Britton and Stoff highlight the importance of fair redistricting, noting that 535,005 Ohioans have already called for an end to partisan manipulation. Invoking the current Ohio Senate President, a beneficiary of hyperpartisan gerrymandering: “we can kind of do whatever we want”, they write, "One voice should not drown out 500,000 others," emphasizing the harmful impact of gerrymandering on democracy and public confidence and trust. They argue that hyperpartisan redistricting weakens Ohio’s ability to retain talent and trust, leading to the state’s "brain drain" as young professionals leave due to a lack of faith in leadership.

Leadership Now has rallied 80 business leaders across Ohio to support Citizens Not Politicians, the coalition behind Issue 1.

Through its efforts, Leadership Now is making the business case for democratic integrity, advocating for fair elections that will create a more competitive and inclusive environment for Ohio's economy. Britton and Stoff call on Ohioans to vote Yes on Issue 1, standing with a broad coalition to protect democracy.
