A Smooth Election Day Should Be the Expectation
Arizona Business Leaders Applaud Smooth Election Day, Praise Officials and Community Partners
Following Tuesday’s general election, Leadership Now Arizona Co-Chairs John Fees and Adam Goodman issued the following joint statement:
“Yesterday, Arizona showed the country what a well-run election looks like. Voters were able to cast their ballots without intimidation, and election officials, poll workers, law enforcement, and community partners did their jobs with professionalism and care. At a time when Arizona’s elections have attracted intense national scrutiny, that is something worth recognizing and celebrating. We are deeply grateful to the thousands of public servants and volunteers who worked long hours to make it happen.
“The work is not finished. Ballots must still be counted, results canvassed, and the election certified. We urge all Arizonans to give that process the same patience and respect that made Election Day go so well. As results become final, we call on every candidate to accept the outcome.
“As business leaders, we know that an orderly, predictable election is good for the economy. Political stability and trust in our institutions are competitive advantages that give us the confidence to build, hire, and invest here.
“All in all, it was a relatively uneventful day. That should not be extraordinary. It should be the expectation, and Arizona proved it can be.”
