Emilia Sykes is a Democratic U.S. Representative serving Ohio’s 13th Congressional District since 2023. The daughter of two Ohio state legislators, she graduated from Kent State University with a J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and a master’s in Public Health from the University of Akron. She served in the Ohio House of Representatives for six years, rising to become House Minority Leader — the youngest woman to hold the position. In Congress she serves on the Science, Space, and Technology Committee, focusing on healthcare access, workforce development, manufacturing, and supporting Akron’s working-class communities.
