Maura Healey is the 73rd Governor of Massachusetts, serving since 2023 as the state's first woman and first openly lesbian governor. A Harvard graduate with a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law, she played professional basketball in Europe before returning to practice law at the private firm Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr and then joining the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office, where she led the Civil Rights Division and later served as Attorney General from 2015 to 2023. As governor she has focused on housing affordability, the MBTA transit system overhaul, climate and clean energy investment, and expanding access to mental health services.
