Andy Beshear is the 63rd Governor of Kentucky, serving since 2019 and reelected in 2023 in a deep-red state. The son of former Governor Steve Beshear, he earned a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and practiced litigation at Stites and Harbison before being elected Kentucky's Attorney General in 2015, where he challenged opioid manufacturers and defended the state's Medicaid expansion. As governor he has led the state's response to devastating tornadoes and flooding, invested in economic development that attracted billions in manufacturing investment, and become one of the most prominent Democratic governors in the country.
