David Crowley, Wisconsin

David Crowley is the Democratic nominee for governor of Wisconsin in 2026, running for the open seat after Gov. Tony Evers declined to seek a third term. Crowley has served as Milwaukee County Executive since 2020, making history as the first African American and youngest person elected to the office at age 33. He previously represented Milwaukee's west side in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 2017 to 2020. As county executive, he led passage of Wisconsin Act 12 — a landmark bipartisan overhaul of state-local revenue sharing — balanced budgets, reformed the county pension system, and delivered the largest property tax cut in county history. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, Crowley began his career as a community organizer. His running mate is former State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski. His campaign focuses on lowering costs for working families, creating jobs through infrastructure and clean energy investment, and expanding access to childcare and healthcare across rural and urban Wisconsin.
