Tammy Baldwin, Wisconsin

Tammy Baldwin is a Democratic U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, serving since 2013 as the first openly gay person elected to the U.S. Senate. A Smith College graduate with a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School, she served on the Dane County Board and in the Wisconsin State Assembly before representing Wisconsin's 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House for 14 years. In the Senate she serves on the Appropriations, Commerce, and Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committees, focusing on healthcare reform — particularly her longstanding fight against surprise medical billing — manufacturing, dairy policy, and veterans' services.
