Rob Sand is Iowa's State Auditor and a Democratic candidate for governor in 2026. A Brown University graduate with a J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law, he worked as an assistant attorney general specializing in public corruption and white-collar crime prosecution, winning convictions against state officials and government contractors. Elected Auditor in 2018 and reelected in 2022 — the only Democrat holding statewide office in Iowa — he has built a reputation for aggressive anti-fraud oversight and fiscal accountability, and is running for governor on a platform of lowering costs, investing in public schools, and combating corruption.
