Josh Turek is the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Iowa in 2026 and a member of the Iowa House of Representatives since 2023. Born with spina bifida and undergoing 21 surgeries by age 12, he played wheelchair basketball at Southwest Minnesota State University and professionally in Europe before winning two gold medals and a bronze with the U.S. national wheelchair basketball team across four Paralympic Games. In the legislature, representing what is often called the reddest seat held by a Democrat in Iowa, he has focused on disability policy, health care, and agriculture, including co-sponsoring a bipartisan right-to-repair law for farm equipment; his Senate campaign centers on health care costs and support for the middle class.
