Sarah Trone Garriott is a Democratic member of the Iowa Senate representing the 14th district since 2021 and the Democratic nominee for Iowa's 3rd Congressional District in 2026. Born in Minneapolis, she earned a bachelor's degree in history from the College of St. Scholastica and graduate degrees in theology from Harvard Divinity School and the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, worked as a hospital chaplain, and was ordained as a Lutheran minister before serving parishes in Virginia and Iowa. In the Senate, she has focused on affordable health care, paid family leave, and public education, and has twice won reelection in districts carried by Donald Trump.
