Jocelyn Benson, Michigan

Jocelyn Benson is the Democratic Secretary of State of Michigan, serving since 2019, and a candidate for Governor of Michigan in 2026. She earned a bachelor's degree from Wellesley College, a master's in sociology as a Marshall Scholar at Oxford, and a law degree from Harvard, and went on to serve as dean of Wayne State University Law School, becoming the youngest woman in U.S. history to lead a top-100 accredited law school. As Secretary of State, she oversaw record-turnout elections in 2020 and 2022 that were affirmed secure through more than 250 post-election audits, earning her the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award and the Presidential Citizens Medal.
