A New York University graduate with a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, she practiced commercial litigation for over two decades and made history in 2017 when she was elected Hempstead Town Supervisor — the first Democrat to win the office in over a century in one of the most Republican towns in the Northeast. In Congress she serves on the Financial Services Committee, focusing on lowering housing costs, property tax relief, combating fraud in local government, and protecting Long Island’s environment.
