Micah Lasher earned a bachelor's degree from New York University and has spent his career in public service at every level of New York government. He served as Director of State Legislative Affairs for New York City under Mayor Michael Bloomberg, as Chief of Staff in the New York State Attorney General's office, and as Policy Director for Governor Kathy Hochul, where he authored a comprehensive housing package the New York Times called the first serious attempt by a New York governor since the 1960s to tackle the state's housing shortage. Elected to the New York State Assembly in 2024, he won the Democratic primary for the open seat vacated by retiring Rep. Jerry Nadler. His priorities include expanding housing supply, gun safety, and government reform.
