Luke Bronin is the Democratic candidate for Connecticut's 1st Congressional District in 2026, having secured the party's convention endorsement over 14-term incumbent Rep. John Larson in a historic upset. A Rhodes Scholar and graduate of Yale College and Yale Law School, he served as a Navy Reserve intelligence officer on the military's anti-corruption task force during a deployment to Afghanistan, held senior posts at the U.S. Treasury Department under President Obama, and served as general counsel to Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy before two terms as mayor of Hartford from 2016 to 2024. As mayor, he led efforts to stabilize Hartford's finances after a near-bankruptcy and expanded affordable and market-rate housing; his campaign focuses on housing, health care costs, and infrastructure.
