Christina Bohannan is the Democratic candidate for Iowa's 1st Congressional District in 2026, her third consecutive run against Republican incumbent Mariannette Miller-Meeks after narrow losses in 2022 and 2024. Raised in a working-class family in rural Florida, she earned a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering and a law degree from the University of Florida, clerked for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and became a law professor at the University of Iowa, later serving one term in the Iowa House of Representatives. Her campaign focuses on lowering costs for Iowans, including ending tariffs, lowering prescription drug prices, and restricting investor purchases of residential property.
