Ethan Corson is a Democratic member of the Kansas Senate representing the 7th district since 2021 and a candidate for Governor of Kansas in 2026. Raised in Johnson County, Kansas, he earned a bachelor's degree and a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis, worked as an attorney in Washington, D.C., and served as a senior advisor to Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker and chief of staff of the International Trade Administration during the Obama administration before returning to Kansas to lead the state Democratic Party. In the Senate, he has worked across the aisle on the Tax Committee to eliminate the state sales tax on groceries and the income tax on Social Security benefits, and his gubernatorial campaign centers on school funding and affordability.
