Phil Scott is the 82nd Governor of Vermont, serving since 2017 and reelected three times in an overwhelmingly Democratic state. A lifelong Vermonter who grew up in Barre, he attended the University of Vermont, co-founded DuBois Construction, and served in the Vermont State Senate and as Lieutenant Governor before becoming governor. A moderate Republican known for crossing party lines, he has vetoed assault weapons legislation, signed comprehensive climate action and reproductive rights protections, focused on affordable housing and workforce development, and become one of the few Republican governors to consistently criticize former President Trump.
